Experience the Northern East African cost trip including safari, mountains and the beach. Start in Arusha and go on a self drive safari in the world's most famous game parks, including the Serengeti.  Explore the less visited western and northern Usambara Mountains before you reach the Indian Ocean and follow its beautiful, untouched coastline south to Dar es Salaam. Go Scuba Diving at the Maziwe Marine Reserve. Considered one of the best diving destinations along the Eastern African Coast.

    Day 1 : welcome to Arusha

    Arusha town is a pleasant introduction to East Africa. It is a green, orderly town with nice coffee shops and restaurants. Considered the safari capital of Africa, its bustling with Land cruisers, safari guides and the likes but your trendsetter when going on self drive safari. Accommodation at Karama Lodge(BB).

    Day 2 : Arusha- Tarangire National park

    Drive: 150km/2.5hours.                                     

    Hit the road towards Tarangire National park. From Arusha, it’s an easy 2 hour journey on smooth asphalt road ,so you can still bite some dusts for your fist afternoon self drive safari in Tarangire national park. The park is very famous for its big herd of elephants and baobabs. Animal’s concentration peaks between July till the start of the rain in November, early December. Accommodation will be at Whistling Thorn.

    Day 3 : Tarangire National park-Lake Eyasi

    Drive: 98km/1.5hours

    If you’re looking for something unique and different, Lake Eyasi is recommended off-the -beated track deviation. It is a cultural highlight because of the unique opportunity to hunt with Hadzabe tribe. Lake Eyasi is a shallow soda lake at the remote southern border of the Ngorongoro conservation Area. From Manyara it’s a 30 minutes smooth drive to karatu town, from where you continue off road for some 2 hours on the rough, rock roads, so drive slowly and carefully.

    The lake Eyasi cultural Tourism program regulates tourism in the area. You find the office at Mangola on the main road. You need to stop here to pay the mandatory entrances fees and it is also where you arrange a guide for your hunting experiences with the Hadzabe tribe or any other cultural activities that you like to do.     Day 4 : Lake Eyasi- Lake Natron

    Drive: 179km/ 2.5hours

    After the great breakfast at our lodge, we do drive to Lake Natron. The full day dedicated to the excursion by the lake. These can be observing the flamingoes and other birds, walking by the lake with local guide, exploring the water falls, hike to the  hominid footprint etc. There is plenty to do in the evening enjoy the sundowner overlooking the Lake Natron, the majestic Lengai and Gelai Mountains and watch the sun goes down behind the escarpment of the great Rift valley.     Day 5 : Lake Natron-Oldoinyo Lengai mountain trekking

    Drive: 20km/30min

    Early at mid night 12:00am we do drive from our camp to the base of the oldoinyo Lengai Mountain to start the climb with the packed snacks and drinking water from our tented camp of accommodation. Reach at the summit during the sunrise and spend sometimes there before coming down to the base of the mountain. From there, you will be drive to the camp for shower, breakfast and relax for the next activities. Later stretch to the lakeshore for birds watching and at evening time you do drive to Karatu.     Day 6 : Ngorongoro crater tour full day

    Ddrive:40km/1hour

    After great breakfast to our Lodge, you will drive to Ngorongoro crater. You will stop up at the gate to get permit then you do drive to the crater to spend a full day in the park with a picnic lunch. The Ngorongoro crater is an UNESCO world Heritage site. The crater is the world’s largest intact caldera and is the only place in the world when you have a very high chance of seeing the big 5 animals in one day. Good to know that the Highlands of the Ngorongoeo conservation Area contain more extinct Volcanoes and Calderas such as Empakai Crater and Oldivai George. Trekking the crater highlands is a great fun. Accommodation at Rhino Loge.

    Day 7 : Ngorongoro crater-Serengeti national park

    Drive: 40km/1-3hours.

    Time to visits the Grand Dame, Serengeti National Park. The park is Massive, so our Travel experts will guide you with where to go and permit arrangements for you. Accommodation at View Mobile camp.

    Day 8 : Enjoy Serengeti national park Full day

    Enjoy a day of game drives. Early morning and late afternoon drive are the best. It’s great fun to drive yourself, but if you find it is hard to sport the predators, our guide will be back of you and help you where possible. Accommodation at Nyati Tented camp

    Day 9 : Serengeti National park- Foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro

    Drive: 350km/6hours.

    Time to say goodbye to the safari parks. Before we continue to the Switzerland of Tanzania, we first drive to the foothills of the Kilimanjaro, a great base from which to undertake outdoor activities such as mountain biking and canoeing at Lake Duluti. Mount Kilimanjaro and mount Meru are fantastic for walking and hiking.Moshi Town is nice to visits and offers cultural coffee tours or just enjoy some chilling at the pool of your Lodge.     Day 10 : Starts Mount Meru-Lushoto-Western Usambara

    Drive: 250km/6hours

    It’s a scenic of 6 hours drive from Arusha to Lushoto, the principal town of the western Usambaras. Roads are in good condition, with hardly any traffic, but be alert for the many speed bumps. You will pass through extensive sisal plantations with the pare mountains towering on the left. From Mombo, the road starts climbing to Lushoto. The area is less Visited by the classic safari tourists and offer many affordable places to stay. Accommodation at Swiss Farm Cottage

    Day 11 : Western Usambara-Northern Usambara

    Drive: 3hours/65km

    If you think the western Usambara were beautiful-eat your hart out. The northern Usambara are even more scenic, where the high escarpment offers breathtaking views over the Mkomazi plains deep down(1.3km) below. Be prepared for some off road driving-windy roads, steep cliffs and no other traffic. This is the road tripping at its best. Accommodation at Mambo Viewpoint Ecolodge.

    Day 12 : Northern Usambara-Pangani

    Drive: 6 hours/245km

    Exciting the day ahead-we are going to the Indian Ocean. From African Alpine Villages to Swahili coastal town, what a change. The road from Lushoto to the tin village of pongwe  is tarred and in good Condition. Wondering what you could do beyond sipping cocktails?

    • Go scuba Diving or snorkeling at the maziwe Marine reserves. Considered one of the best diving destinations along the Eastern African coast.

    Day 13 : Pangani-Bagamoyo

    Drive: 300km/5.5hours

    Today you will drive to Bagamoyo, your next destination on the Swahili costs. During the second half of 19th century, Bagamoyo was one of the most important settlements on the east African Coast. The town was the terminus for the slave trade caravan connecting Zanzibar all the way to Lake Tanganyika (Burundi).After the long and dangerous journey reaching Bagamoyo felt like coming home for thr traders. Legendary explore like Livingstone, Speke, Burton and Stanley started and ended several of their journeys in this historical town.

    Today it remains a truly traditional town, interesting to absorb Swahili culture. If you arrive in the afternoon, one night will be enough, if you enjoy traditional culture, spend two nights. Accommodation at Traveler’s Lodge.

    Day 14 : Bagamoyo- Dare salaam-Airport

    Drive: 60km/2hours

    The best way to explore and appreciate Bagaoyo`s rich history is through a guided city tour by foot and Bajaj (TUK-TUK).our office will arrange reliable guides to show you all the historic sites. Bagamoyo is a small town and the tour will not last more than an hour or two.

    The beaches in Bagamoyo are lively and a great spot to enjoy the Swahili coastal culture, but not a place for sunbathing in your bikini. The mix of fish auctions, football, children, fisherman, hikers and tourists are a lusty sight and the busy down traffic in the port and along the shores still gives you a pretty good feel of what was going on back in the day. After lunch, you continue to Dare salaam Airport.
